Austrian company Team 5 name all of their products after colours. The new beginners’ paraglider is named the Green b, and certified EN A.
They have made it as foolproof and easy to use as possible, the lines being carefully colour coded, and they have even labelled the bits to pull to achieve Big Ears or a B-stall.
Team 5 say the Green b’s takeoff and landing behaviour is “wonderful”. In addition they say it has very little pitch and roll tendency and it is very easy to achieve flat turns in thermals.
The nylon rods that support the nose and make launching easier, are easily replaceable. After all, a beginner’s wing is expected to suffer a certain amount of abuse.
Three rows of lines keep drag down, and Team 5 credit the Green b with “an exceptionally good performance and very direct and responsive handling”, a good balance of safety and performance.
The wing is designed to have good performance wherever in the weight range you fly it – you do not need to ensure you are in the upper portion, for example, as has sometimes been the recommendation with other wings.
